& Daughters Hat

In 1907 Joel Russ took a pushcart of herring and built a legacy that would pass down through fathers and daughters (and sons and husbands and wives). In the 1930’s he made his three daughters full partners, and renamed the business “Russ & Daughters,” making it the first business in America with “& Daughters” in its name. We’re proud to support The Foundation for Women's Health, which is building a pool of private money for women’s health research that can remain sustainable over the long-term. Women were categorically excluded from clinical trials in the US until 1993. For the past three decades only 8.8% of NIH grant spending went to women's health research even though women are 51% of the population. FWH is the only grant-making organization in the private sector that looks across the entire continuum of the female life cycle to identify and fill the gaps in rigorous research. (Cotton.
